Our Garage: Rich Hills’ 1997 VW Jetta

Rich Hills is the guy that makes sure your parts make it from us to you. You probably haven’t talked to him, you might not have even heard of him. But if there’s a guy that can squeeze the value out of an opportunity it’s Rich.

Take his car for example, a ‘97 Volkswagen Jetta. Let’s start with the cost, he paid $200 for the car with a blown transmission. He then bought a $50 Jetta with a good transmission, swapped it, sold the junked car for $200 and walked out of the whole transaction with a running car for $50. He drives that car every day.

Although, like many owners, he couldn’t leave good enough alone. He went through, added an exhaust where there wasn’t one before, threw on some lowering coilovers and replaced ALL the lights in the car with Euro lights. That means they didn’t fit, he had to cut his radiator support just to get the lights in. But hey he got some awesome orange running lights out of the deal.

If there was a Museum of Proof and exhibit about car culture at FCP, Rich would be on display. He’s driven in every way, and we’re happy he’s here helping us and you.

Our Garage: Chris Gargiulo’s 1998 Audi A4

Chris Gargiulo comes from a family of enthusiasts, you’ve probably heard a lot about his brother Mike, yeah the 70 car

s Mike, but Chris is an integral part of our operations here as well.

Chris is another one of those guys you’ve probably never talked to, but that’s your fault and you’re missing out. He’s got a few projects in his garage right now, one of which is a BMW we’ll probably be discussing later. But for today let’s talk about his 1998 Audi A4.

First thing you’ll notice it’s low, full coilovers were one of his first changes when he bought the car a while back for just $1,000.

It’s a standard 2.8 but he’s jazzed it up a bit, it’s got straight pipes and some awesome s4 wheels that you can tell he takes some pride in.

Chris said it’s only his 10th car or so, brushing it off without consideration of me being only on my third. Like I said, the Gargiulo’s are a family of car enthusiasts, which is why I think Chris fits in so well here at FCP.

Our Garage: Jose Velazquez’s 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo

Jose is what I like to call an ATE, an All-Terrain Employee, he picks, he packs and he’s got a mom that makes awesome tomales. But aside from his culinary caregiver he’s also a car character.

He says he’s given his car too much already, but you know after talking to him he’s invested himself fully into finishing the project he started with $800 in may 2011.

The goal: convert his 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo car to a Volvo 850 R. He’s replaced the body panels, including but not limited to the spoiler and bumper and he’s currently moved on to the interior and engine bay.

He’s replaced the headliner and is currently working on swapping the seats out with genuine R seats. Then it’s the larger turbo and the new injectors.

He’s got the itch, and even though he says he’s given his car too much I don’t think he’s going to stop any time soon. Jose is awesome, no question, and we’re glad to have him helping us here at FCP.

Our Garage: Dave Greco’s 2005 Nissan 350Z

Dave’s the guy here at FCP that makes sure all of our new parts make it up onto our site. He’s basically in charge of making sure we get better and better. It’s a big undertaking, but somehow he’s squeezed some time in for his 350Z as well.

It’s a 2005, and, yeah, he’ll be the first to tell you that he hasn’t done as much to his car as some of the other guys in our building. But that just means he’s selective.

He’s upgraded his intake and swapped out his wheels, and comes to a screeching halt using some of our FCP Sport cross drilled and slotted rotors.

He drives the car like it wants to be driven, and I’ve seen him on the side of the road paying the price to a set of flashing police lights. He’s only had it for a couple of years but plans on moving on in about another year. What’s next you ask? He says he has no idea, maybe a helicopter.

Our Garage: Zach Miller’s 1996 BMW 328i

Zach “MillerTime” Miller’s 1996 328i BMW convertible started life as a Hellrot Automatic with the tan/brown interior.

Now with micro-suede tan and black interior, manual transmission, 3.23 LSD, and resprayed Imola red the car is nearing completion.

He tells us adding the M50 manifold, intake, M3 exhaust and Fan delete mod made the car a bit quicker, (not a trait used to describe the stock 4-speed auto which is was born as).

The project isn’t complete however, he says he’s looking to finalize the interior which already houses E46 330ci Sport seats and suede. He’s looking to finish the car by dyeing or replacing all the leather, “then it will be just like I always wanted it to be.”

If you want to get in touch with us here at FCP or Zach you can reach him at zachary.miller@fcpgroton.com.
