BMW Fuel Filter Replacement (E46)

Sometimes a simple tuneup can go a long way, and if you haven’t looked into replacing your fuel filter, you may be pleasantly surprised with the results.

You can see Mike of M&M Motors in Clinton, CT and FCP’s own Zach Miller teach how to replace the fuel filter in a BMW E46.

As always, send a message for any questions you may have.

Quality Assurance at FCP by Jason VanGorden

I’ve joined the team here at FCP to improve and maintain a high level of quality, enhance our customer’s experiences, and establish a well known brand you can trust.  My name is Jason VanGorden, or ” Volvo Tech Jason ” as I’m commonly referred to around FCP, and the fact that I became a Volvo Master and an ASE Master so early can be directly attributed to the very same commitment to excellence FCP possesses.

Our Mission & Promise

Our Quality Assurance mission is to welcome positive AND negative feedback from manufacturer research, product research, routine product inspections, customer feedback, and inventory and warranty returns analytics. This systematic approach consistently demonstrates innovative thinking when generating solutions and alternatives.

This method allows us to identify opportunities to improve our product line, prevent problems, and more importantly keep them from recurring.  FCP pledges to provide quality parts that are affordable and durable. With a highly knowledgeable and motivated staff we are able to work together and clearly define our goals to attain refined structure and organization that will ensure you receive the quality you expect and the service you deserve.

We realize that our suppliers, products and employees are the means to achieving our objectives. While we realize that, we also know that the entire experience begins and ends with our customers, and their overall satisfaction.  Therefore we enable our team to identify problems, develop solutions, and enforce change when needed.  FCP would never sell you anything we wouldn’t install on our own cars. We strive to meet the needs and expectations of our customers. When you get into your car we want you to have adequate confidence that our parts and services conform to the industries highest standards.

The roots of FCP originated as a family operation, something we still value to this day. We realize that a car is not just a machine but rather a necessity of life for you and your family.

FCP’s Focus on Quality Auto Products and Brands

Last year we came to an inflection point in the company where we realized that you, the customers, were demanding better quality products from FCP and it wasn’t necessarily about price. Sure price means something, but if the product fails prematurely and you need to repair your car all over again, there go all your potential savings.  All in the same time, we had a few employees who wouldn’t use a particular product we sold on their vehicle, and that really hit home for us. Over the past year, we began to classify products into different categories in an effort to establish purchasing guidelines for our customers as well as to determine what products we should and should not be selling.  We follow one simple question: Would you sell this product to put on your families car?  Below, I will describe in more detail the two most important categories, Tier 1 and Tier 2 Products.

Tier 1 Products

Parts that have the potential for serious damage should they fail have been classified Tier 1 products.  For products that fall into this category, there really is no other thought that goes into it other than this: the part has to be from an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer – such as Lemforder or TRW), an approved aftermarket manufacturer (Febi or Meyle), or a Genuine (such as OE BMW in the BMW packaging). There are absolutely no exceptions to this rule.

Tier 2 Products

The second category we classify products is Tier 2.  Products in this category, if they were to fail, would cause a chain reaction of damage(s) to a vehicle. Think of a timing belt tensioner or water pump, for example: If the water pump were to fail or lock up, the timing belt would come off the pulley, and the engine valves would damage the cylinder head. For products that fall under this category, nearly the same rule applies. We are only offering OEM or an upgrade to OEM.

The Road Ahead

It is my goal and mission to only source and offer the highest quality auto parts and where that path has lead me over the last 12 months has indeed been humbling experience. I have personally scrapped thousands of dollars of sub standard product into a metal recycling dumpster and replaced the units on the shelves with OEM parts as they did not live up to our standards. I have terminated long standing relationships with vendors, as we no longer saw eye to eye as to the type of products that they should be selling FCP. The best part about everything that has been done over the last year; people are finally starting to recognize. Employees who came to me to identify products that they wouldn’t recommend, now feel part of something knowing that their voice has been heard that particular product is no longer on the shelves. Customer are also starting to recognize as well, every week I see more and more emails comment about the quality and sales are actually increasing on the name branded OEM products. This will be an ongoing battle that we will always fight but I feel for the first time, we are ahead in the battle and on offense. The last 12 months were rough, but I am excited for the next 12 and beyond as we have reinforced the foundation for FCP to be here for the long haul.
